I think all these dry nights are not good for the newcomers! But there’s more fun in the mud and we’ll have plenty of it in the next weeks and months.
In the Youth race, we had Jake Mckee winning the boys and Ava Baker winning the girls. Both were chased hard by Logan McAreavy and Ciara O Connor. Josh and Molly turner had brilliant rides taking the bronze position.
We had similar racing at the pointy end of each category and age groups. We had our usual mass start with a few camping out since yesterday to get their place on the front row. I may have a look and do some sort of gridding in relation to the last few rounds.
We had Joseph Mullen and Tadhg Killeen again fighting it out with Conor Murphy not far off. But it was Tadhg winning this time from Joseph and not leaving it to the sprint. Conor Murphy rode himself into the race coming 3rd. Rhiannon Dolan and Katie Turner had a similar battle to the boys with Rhiannan winning. Jean Wilson had a good night finishing in third.
What was pleasing tonight was seeing a few guys that have ridden the road all their lives and tried cross for the first time. We are here every Wednesday so if you can get your hands on a bike why not give it a go.
Thanks to Niall Clarke Oils for supporting our Wednesday night and the helpers!
