McCrystals Cracker

Happy New Year to all our cycling friends. Well done to those who came today. The course was very slippy indeed and made for some great racing.

We had combined categories in our 3 races. U8-12 boys and girls were up first. Almost 30 kids raced and put out their best efforts, receiving a finisher bottle with plenty of goodies. We acknowledged the podium winners of course with Tadgh Connolly having a stomer in first and Jaxon Jennings in 2nd, Lewis Bell 3rd. Not to be outdone Rionach Campbell was the clear winner in the girls with Kate Horohoe 2nd and Fiadh Craig in 3rd.

The Girls U14- Master women were up next. Elana Wallace was very strong today winning from Emer Heverin in 2nd and Aoife Craig in 3rd.  3 very good riders that will go well in the Nationals. The First Unplaced Junior was Holly  McCaffrey and the First unplaced Master was Helen White. The Girls certainly got the worst of the morning with the weather calming down for the next race.

We had 50 riders on the line for the u14-masters men.. Fingers were crossed by me that everyone got through the first few bends ok. We had a couple of slips but nothing major. It was great to see some new faces trying CX out. Dean Harvey set a pace very few can live with and it was no surprise he took the chequered Dundalk FC flag first. Curtis McKee was 2nd with Rian McCrystal in 3rd. The first unplaced junior was Eoin Davis running over the line after a mechanical before the last corner. Glen Kinning had a couple of problems too but that didn’t stop him from taking the 1st unplaced masters.

Thanks for coming. And thanks to the crew, Donal, Martin, Paul, Jim, and Vincent..Thanks also to the voice of CX  Paul Joyce for coming today.

We will be at McCrystals Track again this Sunday for round 4 of the National Series. Entry link  here
