We had another dry and fast night for round 2 of the Niall Clarke league. Tadhg Kileen really started fast but hot on his heels was joseph Mullen and the two boys had a really good tussle with Joseph winning the throw on the line. Rhiannon Dolan had a good ride going to the front and not looking back but Katie turner wasn’t too far behind with a great race.
The chase pack in the men’s race looked fun with PJ Hynes really driving the pace. David ONeill looked like he was going to get a full race in with any mishaps but it wasn’t to be when he rolled his tub. Ray Oshaughnessy worked his way right throw the field showing his experience.
U14 boys Josh McClune and Eoin Davis had a great dual, with gaps opening and closing all night but it was a gallop to the line with Josh coming out the better.
Great to see more newcomers, especially in the youth race. Lily McAfee rode her first CX race and did extremely well. The McMorland brothers blasted around and with Eoin and Conor very close. But it was Conor that edged out Eoin to the line. Eire McCrystal and Ava Baker repeated their battle at the weekend and it looks like it’s going to be that way for the remainder of the season. Eire had to work hard to stay in front with Ava closing towards the remaining couple of laps.
